TB#01 : Unravelling the Enigma

“Array, yeh ladki jaisa dikhne wala, dhabhe me khane wala, cricket kya khelega?” said the chief selector of the MECON colony team when he first encountered Dhoni and rejected him. And the book starts with this ‘wise’ comment.

This 200 page book contains 10 chapters starting from ‘the hair-raising tale of Mahi’ to ‘The Man Emerges’ with a highly persuasive Foreword by Ravi Shastri

Closing of the foreword by Shastri

It’s the journey of the man who, in less than a decade ended up putting Ranchi on the world cricket map. The man you know, the journey you (still) don’t!!

It’s a tale of a cricketer as a young boy from nowhere to holding one of the most nerve racking responsibilities in the Indian cricket. You’ll get to know how he creates scenarios, using his presence of mind to manipulate or influence the opposition. You’ll understand his ability to read the pulse of a batsman from behind the stumps. The wicketkeeping Pythagoras!

‘Ice bhi pighal jayega, lekin Dhoni nahi’, Harbhajan had once said about the former captain. Read and discover what it is that lies behind Mahi’s composed nature and what are the basic philosophies that govern his life.

Also, catch a glimpse of his personal life off the field from the accounts of his close circle.

The fauji side- Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army unit of the Parachute Regiment and his attachment with the forces is also vividly portrayed to the readers.

This is a Dhoni book and has been written in the same style, starting leisurely and finishing off in style. There couldn’t have been a better way of narration. This particular work by Bharat will surely keep you tied-up from cover to cover. And perhaps the only book that did so for me, hitherto. It’s quite evident from the fact that I’ve read this twice!!

Read it as a biography(although it isn’t) or a fiction or even as a self-help(seriously, coz there’s so much to learn). But DO GIVE IT A READ and give your senses a helicopter ride!!!
